Sococo: Second Life for Your Office – CES 2012

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSIn this day and age, a business doesn’t need to have a physical location. Heck, the employees might not even be in the same state or country. Nonetheless, you need to make sure they are continually productive in what they do. That is where Sococo comes in. They provide an integrated tool which creates a virtual office – cubicles, offices, common areas, meeting rooms. Each employee gets and avatar, so you can pass by your programmer and actually have a conversation with them. If you cannot be bothered, set your avatar to “Private” and others will know. VeriSonix: Speakers that can be Sewn into Bags, Clothing – CES 2012

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSSpeakers in the clothing is not a new concept, but not too many people can bring it to market. Enter in VeriSonix, where they have Electret-electrostatic Flexible Loudspeakers (EFL). Basically, super thin speakers (size of cardboard), woven in clothes, and very flexible. VeriSonixEFL uses membrane speaker technology, so no speaker cones are needed. EFL is green technology, as they use only 10 percent of the power of normal speakers. VeriSonix sells to end customers. VeriSonix (based in Taipei, Taiwan) works with Taiwan electrets electronics corporation(TEEC) in creating the EFL. This technology can easily be put into clothing, gear (like backpacks), tablecloths (a great way to amplify a speaker at a dinner), and other materials. I could even see the EFL system wrapping a room, or embedding in furnature to keep the volume low, but let you hear what’s going on with a movie or...

Ford: Focus Electric Vehicle – CES 2012

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSWhile at CES, we stopped in and talked to the folks at Ford. Eric talks with Jeffrey about the Ford Focus Electric, and why you would purchase an all-electric car over a gasoline combustion engine. We talk about the internal battery system, the interactive charging system inside, sending routes directly to the car (a partnership with Mapquest), and more. One thing we focus on with the Energi is the safety of this vehicle. Using over 50% of the body is high-strength steel.
