Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSI attended a couple sessions today, one being how the WWE is crushing social media. Did you know the WWE trends more than most other sports? Did you know that WWE’s John Cena has more Twitter followers than Kim Kardashian? The panel included Cena, Stephanie McMahon (EVP,Creative Developer), Perkins Miller (EVP of Digital Media) and hosted by Khris Loux of Echo. They talked some impressive numbers on how WWE is not only taking social media to new levels but also creating ways for fans to be fully interactive. Turning to the internet and iPad app when the show is on break, for example. But the WWE’s numbers can speak for themselves. Almost 100 million likes on Facebook, 45 million Twitter followers. John Cena himself has 3.5 million followers – placing him around 246 in the top followers list. Whats more impressive...
Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSDay 1 of SXSW Interactive started out with rain. Everyone piled into the convention center to dry off and attend the first sessions of the event. The Samsung Blogger lounge opened and I met Brian Solis who gave me a copy of #WTF. While going from session to session, I ran into Pete Cashmore of Mashable. We had a brief but great conversation. I got to stop by the Roku – PBS booth where I not only learned about the new Roku 3 but also the 2 new channels from PBS on Roku. You will now be able to watch local public programming or shows like Downton Abbey. I then went to a couple events including Toys for Techies where I enjoyed some cool innovations. Finally I stopped outside the convention center to see the maker-booths. From 3D printers to banana piano...
Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSToday I stopped at the registration booth at SXSW. This is where you get your passes, bag, press tags and even housing information. Within the first day I ran into a bunch of friends including Jeff Cutler, C.C Chapman and Ewan Spence whom I saw while sitting on the Game of Thrones throne. Actually, I got to see more of Ewan Spence than I wanted to. I also walked around the center a bit to talk about merchandise of SXSW and how people get around the event. An amazing day with some great parties in the evening.
Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSI got to head to SXSW a little early this year. I stopped in the SXSWedu area where they were building models from LEGO, 3D printer models from a Makerbot and more. TechShop was supplying the materials and equipment to make some cool items. I got to talk with them and also got a dog tag laser etched. Techshop is a place where inventors can get their ideas off the ground. They have the space and tools for you to use. www.techshop.com
While at SXSW, I was interviewed by Dell, and asked what would I do if I had the power to do more. A pretty interesting question, because I had to reply with a clarification – Is that a Lex Luthor power to take over the world, or a Superman power to save the world. I said that I would like to help people build their craft, while I also did the same. By helping people, I feel I have contributed in building the blogging and podcasting community. Being a citizen journalist, I can show people what goes on at places like SXSW, and other big events. Thanks to Dell for the video! See the other video questions asked at SXSW! The rest of my SXSW experience. This was a hodgepodge of pictures at Guero’s Taco Bar, Fast Company Grille, Google Multiplex, at the Today Truck for breakfast and more.

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSIn part 1 of this 3 part series, we were at the Snoball party. Snoball is a company that helps non-profits get funding. Their model is simple: sign up, set up a declaration, and give money. For instance, you can set up a trigger that states every time you eat at a certain place, your favorite non-profit gets $5 (or whatever you want to set). Have 100 people check in to Foursquare, donate money to a worthy cause. Subscribe to Geekazine SMF – Also on TechPodcasts SMF – Get on iTunes SMF – Get on Zune SMF

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSWhile at SXSW, I sat down with Jason Rupp of Ask.com and we talked about a new application they are rolling out. It’s first coming out for the iPhone, but will make it’s way to iPad, web and Android devices in the coming weeks. The name of the app is called PollRoll. It’s a simple poll of a question you might have. You could ask who like Justin Beiber. Then again, you might see a nice pair of boots and ask if you should buy them. PollRoll has the audience of Ask.com behind it. Therefore, if you have the poll open, you can get a wide variety of answers. Right now, you can see what your friends think, what the overall audience thinks, and what the local audience (in your area) thinks. For instance, Jason was looking at a pair of...
The first couple days of SXSW in Austin, TX. I have been all around this great city, and my feet are tired. But there is a lot of great content. This is all shot through my iPad using iMovie.
I am at South by Southwest (SXSW) this weekend. It was a last minute trip, and my first to the big event. I wanted to do something a little different for SXSW. I’m creating videos from iMovie for iPad, but also taking a ton of photos for this trip. The following will be my photoblog of this great event.
