Large Diaphragm Microphones: Monoprice 600801 vs iRig Mic Studio

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSIf you are planning to do some podcasting or music recording, you might be in the market for a USB microphone. Large Diaphragm microphones are great for capturing a full sound of a vocal or instrument. They can also be placed to capture an area rather than right at your mouth. We’re looking at two Large Diaphragm USB microphones – The Monoprice 600801 and the IK Multimedia iRig Mic Studio. I am recording straight from these microphones with no post-processing. Levels will be different but you should be able to hear the results each microphone gives. BTW – I did get product from both Monoprice and IK Multimedia but opinions are my own. How to Get HBO, Showtime, or Starz Without a Cable Contract

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSIt’s a new age for watching TV. Let’s look at some ways you can get these services. **Note: prices and offers can change at any time.** HBO Now through the App In order to subscribe, you need a provider. HP PageWide 577 dw Printer Pros and Cons

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSCan printers be sexy? Maybe not. But can Ink Jet printers be fast and very functional? You Bet! Let’s Geek Out at the Pros and Cons of this HP PageWide dw 577 Printer! PRO Keep in mind this is not a Laser Printer. It is an ink jet printer with a lot of technology advances from what you might associate an injet to be. PRO The PageWide disrupts the inkjet space. Other printers use an LED system that would move the printer head across the paper on 2 axis. PageWide does just that – a head that doesn’t move – the paper moves as the heads do a more competent job of laying down the ink. This makes the process faster and less ink smudge. PRO With great strides in HP Ink, the old water-based ink printer will smudge and bleed...

How to Run QSC Touchmix App on Windows

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSI am a big fan of the QSC Touchmix. Keep in mind, this device really marks the change in Live sound mixing. Sound professionals would haul in a heavy box consisting of a mixer, compressors, gates and EQs to do what this mixer the size of a laptop can. And it can also multi-channel record with only an SSD drive! I do have one problem with the mixer. While I can use iOS and Android to mix channels, there is no Windows app to do it. With a Windows app, I can use the Keyboard, mouse and other USB ports to control the mixer. Most important, I can set up a macro program to change multiple items. But worry not, because there is a way! An Android Emulator on Windows. Get the Touchmix 16 AMIDuOS After reviewing the versions of emulators...

First Look with Seth Leitman on the BMW i8

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSThe BMW i8 is a remarkable sports car. The car is a plug-in hybrid that debuted in 2013 at the NAIAS in Detroit. I was there with Green Living Guy Seth Leithman looking over the car. We geeked out over the design and charge-ability. The prototype only had a fuel efficiency of less than 2.5 L/100 km. But it’s real feature was the aluminum frame with carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). Since then, the BMW i8 has gone through some great upgrades. The 2015 i8 holds a 7.1 kWh lithium-ion battery for 76 mpg and up to 330 miles total. Of course, you can get there pretty fast, as the i8 goes from 0-60 in 4.2 seconds. The striking exterior is an added feature to it’s EfficientDynamic ventilation technology. The BMW i8 will reduce coefficient of drag to improve overall aerodynamics. At the end...

Verizon Jetpack 6620L MiFi Review Video

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSWhen I was on travel the last few months, I got to take the Verizon Jetpack 6620L Mifi with me. It’s a great addition to any Itinerant’s tech gear as it saves your phone in so many ways. While I didn’t travel Internationally, I was in some spots where the signal was weak and was still able to keep in communication. The Verizon Jetpack 6620L is a 4G LTE mobile hotspot that can connect up to 15 devices. The 4,000 mAh battery gives a usage time of around 20 hours with an even better standby time. Two USB plug types so you can plug it in different sockets to keep the battery charged. The 6620L also is small enough so it can be put in a bag for travel. The Jetpack will work on LTE, CDMA, EDGE/GSM, and HSPA, so the Mifi...

Most items can be found at the store: http://geekazine.com/stormready USB chargers I get a lot of these at conventions – seems to be the new swag. Canon Unreal Bowling Makes the Game New Again

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSI remember biking to my local bowling alley for 10 frames of fun and frustration. I was even on a league where I couldn’t figure out how to break 200. Nowadays, bowling is a sport that is losing interest as alleys are closing down. But can something like Unreal Bowling bring the excitement back? While at Infocomm 2016, I got to check out the “Unreal Bowling” by Canon and Crunchy Logistics. Using sensors and their Canon REALiS Projectors, they were able to give the lanes an interactive upgrade. Flip through the menus to choose what you want to do on the lane. You can attack Pumpkins, run the ball across a piano, see Fireworks and much more. This can even turn one game into many to bring excitement to the weekend-bowler. This is not a cheap investment as a simple lane...

What is HPE Labs “The Machine” at HPE Discover

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSIf someone was to ask you to draw a computer, you would probably draw an opaque box with a monitor, keyboard and mouse. In the last few years, the vision changed ever so slightly with some possibly drawing a laptop or tablet. But a computer is so much more and it’s starting to lose it’s physical body. Just like with the “Star Trek” theme we saw all that week at HPE Discover. I got to talk with Martina Trucco about what Hewlett Packard Enterprise Labs (HPE) saw as “The Machine”. They created an interactive sculpture where you could go inside and see the interactions from the items we use everyday (and might not even know it). From the cell phone in our pockets, to the towers that replicate and push out those signals, and finally, the destination of your communications –...
