Sony showed off their new Alpha 7s (A7s) DSLR camera at NAB. This camera contains a 35mm sensor in it allowing for a lower resolution and pixels that can capture better even in low light situations. The camera is mirrorless. The a7scan adapt to become a full cinematic movie camera.

What else do you need?

The s stands for sensitivity. It supports an ISO range of 50 to 409,600. A down-scaled 4k (2,840×2,160) is achieved through this 12.2 megapixel sensor. You won’t be able to record 4K video directly on the camera but you will be able to make some great video in full 1080p with a XAVC S-format class 10 video card.

And it’s still a camera, too.

The camera can shoot at 5 fps. with shutter speeds up to 1/8000. The 35mm CMOS sensor can give you some great shots in lower light. You will need a flash in some cases, in others, you will be able to get shots that would be near impossible.

The Sony a7s is not available as of yet. No price point has been set either. To find out more, check the Sony a7s webpage.
