iRig UA for Android versus iRig HD for iOS Video Comparison

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSI remember building my first pedal board out of an old record player. The size was wide enough that I could hinge onto my Peavey Rage amplifier. I had a Wah/Volume, Reverb and Doubler pedals which I affixed to the board and plugged into the power strip. It was crude, but it worked really well. Today, all you need is a smartphone to not only get all those pedals, but a plethora of amps and microphones as well. Digital guitar modeling has majorly progressed in the last 5 years – especially with companies like IK Multimedia who are pushing the boundaries for musicians. A guitar player might just walk in with their ax and a tablet that plugs right into the soundboard. No more amps. No more pedal boards that lie on the ground to get beer spilled on them. The...

iPhone 6 Rumors Dissected – Why is it Called iPhone 6 Anyway?

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSSeptember 9th, 2014. That is the date of the upcoming iPhone event. The quintessential reset to the world of smartphone technology. But what are we going to see? Will a watch be part of it? “I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been ‘No’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.” That came from the man who helped bring the iPhone into our world, Steve Jobs. It wasn’t the first Smartphone – they have been around before any iPhone ever came out. Nonetheless, it was the iPhone that made the smartphone. With Jobs vision, the first device was both mesmerizing and confusing. Fast forward...

Mimi Smart Hearing Uses iPhone to Improve Hearing – Disrupt 2014

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSEver been in a location where you cannot hear the other person because of the bounce of a room? MIMI has a solution – throw your headphones on and adjust the room sound so you can hear the other people. I personally have a hard time hearing female voices due to the fact I am a drummer. Even the noisy bustle sound at Disrupt and the quieter voice of Eva Maria Zoll made it tough to hear. The best part was I put my headphones on and ran the app – I was able to hear her voice better. The app brings you through a quick hearing test which can tell you where your loss is at. Switch over to the active part and adjust the levels so you can hear the conversation. MIMI is also working on a Bluetooth LE...

Apple Beats: What is Tim Cook-ing up at Apple?

Subscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSS Last week I was in New York for TechCrunch Disrupt. I got some great videos and tons of awesome footage of Times Square. However, when I returned my back decided to rebel from carrying 40 lbs throughout the city. Its been a tough weekend of recouping. Before the back siezed up I was able to hit some Friday garage sales with my brother. We hit an ultimate score – 2 totes full of in-box Spawn and Star Wars figures. We got it for a deal and are figuring out the next steps. If anyone wants to buy some, let me know. Last night’s TWIGG had a lot of great news. The Glass teardown found the device cost $150 to make – $200-250 with software and R&D. We had to ask why Glass was still $1,500. HP sent me 2 new devices...

Chevy Turns the Car into a Full Wifi Hotspot, Adds App Shop

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSWhile at CES, I stopped by the Chevy booth where I found the Hotspot car. This is a Chevy vehicle using the OnStar system to turn your car into a full hotspot. Your car even has its own phone number! Chevy also showed off their app shop — an app enabled store where you can get automobile-centric apps like Pandora, Glympse and even Priceline.com (if you need to find a hotel). Chevy has 12 apps right now with more coming. Chevy also has an open API for developers to program with. Chevy will include these features in all 2015 vehicles. [cessponsor]

Why Apple, Google Bested Coca-Cola as Top Global Brand

Subscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSS Was proud of iPad365 – not only on “New and Noteworthy”, but also on “What’s Hot” in Technology. I broke down and joined Empire Avenue. My stock jumped to $58.51 in the first two days. Does that mean I’m rich?  Spent the weekend relaxing – on Sunday we did Tandem Kayaking on Lake Monona. Not an easy task at times. Last night’s TWIGG we talked on XE10 and the upcoming GDK for Google Glass. I also tried Google Hangouts with Q&A. While I liked how it worked, in the end the quality wasn’t there. Not sure if the problem wasn’t as much Google as it was my Macbook Pro. I really need to find a way to upgrade my computer so that doesn’t happen again. CES planning is underway. This year – we’re doing a Crowdfund! Expect it to start Oct...
