New in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSAl Mooney sat down with me at NAB 2017 to let me know all the cool new features that Premiere Pro contains. Lots of cool beta programs that you can start to use right away. Just like the Character Animator, which programs such as the Late Show with Stephen Colbert started using right away. This is part of an “Instant on” option: when something gets announced, you can start using it by updating the program. This is true for all Adobe Creative Cloud programs. As for Premiere Pro, it’s more than just editing. Color, audio, and motion graphics have been the main focus. For color, Adobe added a lumetri color panel. Audio also has a panel that gives you a essential sound panel – a visual screen to help clean up sound points. An auto-match loudness will normalize all sound clips. Easier...

AirScouter Wearable Display from Brother for Monitoring Video

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSAs a videographer, sometimes you can’t poise a camera to view through the eyepiece or even the display. If you are moving with your camera, sometimes you have to trust it’s capturing the way you want it. External monitors help, but you can’t always keep your eyes on it while moving. Brother has a solution to this in the AirScouter. This is a head-worn device that displays a 720p image in one eye. As you move throughout the shot, you can simply glance up to the screen to see if you are in the frame you envisioned. This is a wired pack, connected through SDI (HDMI version may also become available). Brother does make a wireless AirScouter for drone use. If you need to shield the sun, simply wear a hat. If you need even more light removal, you can get...

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSIf you have been watching Late Show with Stephen Colbert, you might have seen cartoon Donald Trump get interviewed from time to time. Switcher Studio Uses Your Phone for Facebook Live Cameras

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSThis is not a new idea, but it is a newer innovation. Systems have tried to incorporate mobile video in their production switchers, but there has normally been a fail, especially when audio is involved. Switcher Studio has worked out that problem and turned their program to all mobile devices. I first saw this program at SXSW when a one-on-one interview was being conducted. Two phones, one iPad (for switching the video content). The phones would connect to the iPad via WiFi, then the iPad would not only swap out the video, but also add lower 3rds, graphics, and pre-recorded scenes. I grilled Switcher Studio on the latency issues. The biggest issue being lag from a phone to the audio track being supplied. I was assured that as long as audio came into the iPad via Lightning or headset, it will...

Sony FutureLab Program N Prototype Unboxing

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSWhile at SXSW, I stopped by Sony’s Wow Experience, where I got to see the Program N headset at it’s next phase. Sony was looking for testers of this prototype (along with future items), and I was all too eager to join. For that, I got the product right on site. What is FutureLab Program Sony FutureLab is an R&D division to gain real-use feedback. Instead of having the programmers and employees use the prototypes, they put them out in the wild to see what the population thinks. Currently, there are two prototypes out there. Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSYou may or may not like your Internet speed right now, but in some areas, Internet is non-existant. We’re not talking 3rd World countries, either. There are many areas in the U.S. that also go with little to no signal for children trying to learn and grow. That is why Vint Cerf helped create the People Centered Internet. I got to sit and talk with Vint at the IEEE Tech for Humanity Series at SXSW in Austin, TX about where we are in this initiative. Hasselblad Moto Mod Doesn’t Live Up to Expectation

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSI was a big fan of the Lenovo Moto Z with projector Moto Mod. I felt it added something to a phone any business person would want. However, with the Hasselblad camera attachment, it doesn’t go where I would want a camera phone to go. I took this phone to 3 major events for one job – to take photos and video. All three events I switched to my DSLR and iPhone because of how the overall performance was. HasselBlad Moto Mod on Lenovo Moto Z The first issue I had with the phone was simply the power that was behind it. The Moto Z was not as responsive as I wanted it to be. If you had to reboot the device, it simply goes through two videos introductions before the phone finally powered on. The phone had a hard time...
