TNP USB-C Hub Adds 4K HDMI, Ethernet, USB-A, and USB-C for Charging

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSThe TNP USB-C Hub is a dongle you can add to your Mac or PC. It adds 4K HDMI, Ethernet, USB-A, and USB-C for Charging or using another USB-C device. I’ve been using with my HP Elite X2 laptop for when I need a Ethernet connection, 2nd monitor, or extra USB device. Ethernet is a 1 Gigabit and transfers data very well within my network. Sometimes I need the wired connection for video and screen-sharing. Ethernet connections have a lower latency, and less chance of getting bumped off the network if too many wireless devices are connected. In connecting to my Vizio M50 4K TV, I had no problem getting the 2160p signal the monitor can produce. I can then use my x2 to present, or watch a video online or one I created. The Elite X2 also has one USB-C...

I Replace the Macbook Optical Drive with OWC Data Doubler

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSIn part one I showed you how I replaced the Macbook hard drive with an OWC SSD. Because of this, I now have an extra hard drive lying around. But what’s more interesting is I have a DVD drive that I don’t even use anymore in my Macbook taking up space. OWC has a solution that will give me more hard drive space in the Macbook. It’s called the OWC Data Doubler – a metal cage that forms to the specs of the DVD drive but allows me to put in my old hard drive, or another SSD. In this video, I go through the steps to take the old DVD drive out of my Early 2011 Macbook Pro and put the Data Doubler in with my old hard drive. Get the OWC Data Doubler Of course, this information is going to be...

Hey! A New iPad Air! Apple Event Brings Mavericks, Mac Pro

Subscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSS I got my 5th pair of Google Glass last week, but they didn’t come from San Francisco. I talk about it all on TWIGG as Luke shows off the Texas state fair. Got a Fitbug Orb in the mail, so I’ll be testing out my health for the next couple weeks. Crowdfund has taken a lot of free time – iPad365 has been on hiatus until now (because I probably should talk about the new iPad, right?) I’ll be speaking next week on Google Glass, so the show may be a day late. Why Apple, Google Bested Coca-Cola as Top Global Brand

Subscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSS Was proud of iPad365 – not only on “New and Noteworthy”, but also on “What’s Hot” in Technology. I broke down and joined Empire Avenue. My stock jumped to $58.51 in the first two days. Does that mean I’m rich?  Spent the weekend relaxing – on Sunday we did Tandem Kayaking on Lake Monona. Not an easy task at times. Last night’s TWIGG we talked on XE10 and the upcoming GDK for Google Glass. I also tried Google Hangouts with Q&A. While I liked how it worked, in the end the quality wasn’t there. Not sure if the problem wasn’t as much Google as it was my Macbook Pro. I really need to find a way to upgrade my computer so that doesn’t happen again. CES planning is underway. This year – we’re doing a Crowdfund! Expect it to start Oct...

One Week with the OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 6G SSD

It is difficult to do a one-size-fits-all review of the OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 6G. Without getting into a huge amount of technical minutia, which can actually be misleading will call this drive “middle of the road” in terms of performance. Whether it is the right drive for you, or not depends on factors outlined next. When I got this drive, I installed it in a few different notebooks, including my Macbook Pro, my older HP G60, and a Dell Lattitude. I even gave it to a friend to use it in some special equipment. Each test brought pretty nice results. The OS would load about 10-20% faster (depending on the machine), the performance would improve (as best it could in an older machine), and I could get work done faster. Pricing the OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 6G SSD Based solely on the Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP),...
