NewBlueFX Updated Titler Live Broadcast Adds XML/CSV Support

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: iTunes | Android | RSSI got to talk with Adam at NewBlueFX at NAB to learn about the upcoming Titler Live Broadcast updates. This update will be coming in June 2017 and will add a lot to the program. Titler Live Broadcast is a program that adds overlays (lower 3rds, title cards, etc) to video. It can be done from the computer, or through another machine using SDI out, HDMI out, or NDI support. One new feature included After Effects import support. By directly importing, you are saving a few steps to get your creations to production. Another great new feature is XML/CSV import for 3rds and titles. With sports scoring and social feeds, you will be able to set up a list and bring that content in as you go. You can use the Titler Live Broadcast on many different hardware and software video switchers,...

New in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: iTunes | Android | RSSAl Mooney sat down with me at NAB 2017 to let me know all the cool new features that Premiere Pro contains. Lots of cool beta programs that you can start to use right away. Just like the Character Animator, which programs such as the Late Show with Stephen Colbert started using right away. This is part of an “Instant on” option: when something gets announced, you can start using it by updating the program. This is true for all Adobe Creative Cloud programs. As for Premiere Pro, it’s more than just editing. Color, audio, and motion graphics have been the main focus. For color, Adobe added a lumetri color panel. Audio also has a panel that gives you a essential sound panel – a visual screen to help clean up sound points. An auto-match loudness will normalize all sound clips. Easier for...

ATEM Television Studio HD The ATEM Television Studio HD is a 4 HDMI, 4 SDI input device that allows you to connect cameras, video from computers, and more. Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: iTunes | Android | RSSWith over 10 million viewers in 10 years, Livestream helps people produce content easier. They do it on two levels, hardware and software. With the Mevo as a simple start, and their multi-camera switchers for a more advanced system, including the HD550 – a laptop-sized device. I talked with Mahdi Motamedi about the Mevo, along with other hardware switchers Livestream creates. The Mevo – starting at $399 allows you to create scenes from a single 4K video. You can set up and control those scenes right from your iOS or (now) Android device. You can also get a Mevo Boost for more battery life and Verizon LTE connection. Wirecast 7.6 Adds NDI Support, Allows Adobe Character Animator

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: iTunes | Android | RSSA long time user of Telestream Wirecast, I was really happy to spend some time in their booth at NAB to learn about 7.6. Since the release of Wirecast 7, they have stepped up the game with cool features that really compete in the live streaming space. And now with incorporating NewTek’s open architecture Netrwork Device Interface (NDI), Wirecast can go in a lot of cool directions. For starters, Wirecast can bring in Adobe Character Animator into a scene. The program allows you to make a 3D character, then use facial recognition to give the animation life. Just like with what Stephen Colbert does with Cartoon Donald Trump. Down the road you will be able to bring an NDI connected camera into a scene. You could have your team live in different parts of the world, and work the Titler Live from their...

ChromaKey using ReflecMedia light, backdrop

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: iTunes | Android | RSSMost of us that use Chromakey have painted a wall green or blue. But what if you didn’t have to paint a wall? Switcher Studio Uses Your Phone for Facebook Live Cameras

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: iTunes | Android | RSSThis is not a new idea, but it is a newer innovation. Systems have tried to incorporate mobile video in their production switchers, but there has normally been a fail, especially when audio is involved. Switcher Studio has worked out that problem and turned their program to all mobile devices. I first saw this program at SXSW when a one-on-one interview was being conducted. Two phones, one iPad (for switching the video content). The phones would connect to the iPad via WiFi, then the iPad would not only swap out the video, but also add lower 3rds, graphics, and pre-recorded scenes. I grilled Switcher Studio on the latency issues. The biggest issue being lag from a phone to the audio track being supplied. I was assured that as long as audio came into the iPad via Lightning or headset, it will match...

NewTek Open Source NDI Standard for Video Production

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: iTunes | Android | RSSIn a video production environment, spreading out tasks between computers can help in many different ways. From producing the video for public consumption to creating archive and even monitoring systems. Network Device Interface (NDI) is a standard that can bridge devices together – and you don’t even have to own a Tricaster. While at NAB, I talked with Phillip Nelson of NewTek about this open standard. NDI was announced back in 2015 to communicate with devices over Gigabit Ethernet. A standard that almost all corporate and video production buildings (even home studios) have. The idea is to have one computer send video or other items over to the production machine without having to convert or render. The end result is a reduction in production workflow. Many different programs have already adopted NDI into their systems. You don’t even need NewTek products to...
