Netflix, Amazon Prime, or Hulu with Live TV? the Comparison Throwdown 2018

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSOne of my top ten videos that still gets watched several times a day, the throwdown of Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon is still the most popular of my videos. What’s more amazing is that people still ask “Which one should I get”? Lots of changes since I first did this review, so I thought it was time to update it and see what these services have to offer!   What Platforms Can Access Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime? Before we go forward, let’s get this out of the way – All three services can be used on laptop, desktop, Roku, XBox One, PS4, Fire TV, and finally, Apple TV. You can get all three services on certain Smart TV systems, but keep in mind, this can change at any time depending on contractual agreements. The Good and Bad of Netflix Since...

WeVideo Cloud Based Video Editor – NAB 2014

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSWeVideo is a great way for someone like me to really get video out to my Blip and YouTube services. The Cloud based video editor allows me to not have to carry a computer while I am on the floor interviewing people. All I have to do is upload the video to the service then do the editing on a tablet, phone or even a press machine. I tell it where to post and then send it off while I go do another interview. I talk with Krishna of WeVideo about the service. The big question is about uploading the video and using the service on hotel Wifi. Krishna eludes to the fact you might not want to upload RAW content – first set it to a reasonable MP4 bitrate. Once the files are up on the service the system brings...

Is Google Hangouts Trying to Get Rid of your Phone Number?

Subscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSS What an awesome week in Austin TX for SXSW! Of course, we cannot forget the tragedy that followed the event this year. If that would have happened 24 hours earlier, I might have been part of it. That is how fragile life is. I took NAB off the schedule for now unless I find a last minute sponsor. If you would like to help out, let me know. This weekend, Jennifer and I went to her sister’s house. We watched Frozen for the first time. Its interesting how a good movie can change your mindset. Let it go. Two new products in the review bin – the AMD R7 250 video card and the Blue Mic Nessie (which I am using in this episode). I give my thoughts on these products. Show notes are getting a slight change – moving the...

#GeekOut

#GeekOut

What is #GeekOut ? What is a Hashtag? In this world of Twitter, Facebook and Google+, hashtags are used to give your voice some clarity. For instance, if I was talking about basket weaving, I would use #BasketWeaving for a hashtag. When someone is searching, those keywords could lead them to you, and ultimately, a friend in basket weaving. I have been thinking of many different hashtags that I could use to promote myself. In the last 7 years, I adopted two tag lines – For the Geek in all of us, and Geek Out! The first one – #ForTheGeekInAllOfUs – seemed a bit too long. #GeekOut on the other hand seemed to be to the point and really summed me up in two words. Therefore, #GeekOut was chosen. Do you Have the Rights to #GeekOut? No, nor does anyone else. It’s a tag only. However, its use...

Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu Plus – the Throwdown

This article has been updated! This week, Amazon mentioned they may be raising the yearly fee by up to $40. This would make the Amazon Prime service $120 a year, or about $10 a month. Netflix and Hulu Plus have their service for $8 a month. While Amazon offers more to their Prime service, is it worth keeping with the price increase. Better yet, if you only had $10 / month to spend on a service, which one would you buy? The Good and Bad of Netflix Netflix has a streaming service and a DVD rental service. They used to be one entity, but were split into two, with hopes to sell the DVD rental side. Once Qwikster fell apart, the company focused on the streaming — especially TV shows. Netflix is great for TV enthusiasts and kids. There are a ton of shows they can watch over...
