Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSWe got a chance to catch up and talk with Rex Brown at NAMM 2018. Sergio Michel interviewed him on the new Seymour Duncan Rex Brown Signature Pickup. We also talked about his latest solo album, and how he was testing the pickup during the recordings. About the Seymour Duncan Rex Brown Signature Pickup A pickup for Active and passive guitarist. Rex plays heavy, so having a 4db push can help give you a sound that you need. A push knob will switch between passive and active. Simply tap for the boost. The Quarter Pounder pickups now give a growl that Brown is excited about. Rex indicated a guitarist could also benefit from this idea. He plays guitar on his solo album “Smoke on This”, which is out now. More information on this pickup will be available later this year. Chris Poland Talks Stone Tone, Gear, and OHM at NAMM

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSWhen you watch a guitarist like Chris Poland, you see the years of hard work look like it’s nothing to do. The former guitarist of Megadeth is also a cool, laid back person who will talk guitar shop until your ears fall off (only to put them back on with his guitar skills – like a surgeon). While at NAMM 2018, Sergio Michel and I got a chance to hang with Chris while he was showing off the Stone Tone Rock Block system. Sergio has known Chris for a long time, so they had some fun, candid moments in this conversation. DPA Core Microphone Technology Minimizes Distortion Wherever the Mic is

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSWhen you are micing up a orchestra, musical, or simply a public speaker, vocal dynamics can cause distortion because the mic is not in a direct placement to the mouth, and the sound engineer has to control volume. DPA core technology solves this with a new idea for their miniature microphones. I talked with them at NAMM 2018 to find out more. What is DPA Core Technology This is a system that expands dynamic range up to 14 db. The inside of the microphone will boost the dynamics so you can hear a whisper, but also takes into account that sound could change to a scream at any time. When you boost a signal, you have to account for distortion if someone raises their voice. The Core technology is ready to take any signal, and keep it from clipping, so all...

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSWhile at Vidcon, I ran into Mark W. Gray, and his daughter, Fiona, along with a very interesting owl. It is not really as much a prop as what it can do – create stereoscopic VR180 Video. YouTube Announcement at Vidcon – VR180 Last week I reported on YouTube announcements. One announcement dealt with VR180 (video link queued up for you). This is a form of video where you only see the front side of 360 video. Just like if you were there.
