If you create a lot of online data, or need a home Enterprise IT box, iXSystems is a great way to do that for a lower price. The software is open-source, so you can use your own hardware. But they do have hardware solutions if you want an out-of-box setup.
FreeNAS Mini
For the SMB, the FreeNAS Mini is a great way to store files, create a Plex server, create vSphere shared storage, or whatever you need. The Mini comes in multiple setups, starting with the Mini E to the new Mini XL+

Mini XL+
The newest in the line of Mini is the XL+. This runs the C3758 Intel CPU (2.2GHz), 8+1 Hot Swap bays, up to 32 GB ECC RAM, and dual 10GbE network.
You can upgrade the unit with read and write cache options, SFP+ NIC card, and up to 3 year hardware warranty.
Use your favorite brand of drives for up to 80 TB of data. Remote management to the FreeNAS OS.
Of course, with that, you have the Open ZFS self-healing data protection, and many plugins to help turn your device into something you use.

iXSytems TrueNAS Rack Mount Systems
If you need something for Enterprise IT, the TrueNAS X and M series rack-mount machines for HDD or SSD storage is available. Multiple size storage options, with memory up to 1.5TB, 4x100GbE, Fibre channel options, and much more.
