BougeRV Aspen Portable Refrigerator: A Cool Companion for All Your Adventures
Last Updated on July 9, 2024 10:59 am by Jeffrey Powers
Camping and tailgating has really gotten a step up in the last couple years. Last year, we looked at the BougeRV 12v refrigerator, which is great for the day out on the lake, at a picnic, or camping. Today, we look at the Aspen series of portable refridgerators for not only the outdoors, but also for home use.
BougeRV Aspen: Design and Build Quality
With a strong, sturdy construction, this portable refrigerator is built for outdoor use. Weighing in at just over 40 pounds, the BougeRV Aspen is relatively easy to transport.
Three models available in the Aspen series – the Aspen 30 (34qt), the Aspen 40 (43qt), and the Aspen 50 (53qt).
Features
This features sturdy handles (on both sides), a long handle for hauling, and optional wheels, making it a breeze to move from your vehicle to your campsite or picnic spot. Each unit has 2 zones for keeping milk cold and ice cream frozen.
Add a BougeRV Battery
With optional battery attachment, the Aspen can be filled up, then taken out for a day at the pool, picnic, or other event. Setting the Eco mode can help keep the food cold longer.

Size and Weight
This all depends on the version of Aspen refrigerator, with the Aspen 50 at 27.2 x 13.6 x 20.6 inches, and a weight of 40.1 lbs (empty).
Cleaning
At the bottom of the S and L zones is a plug for draining. With a simple wash and let dry, the refrigerator is ready for use for the next event.
Great for Emergency Use
I just went through a defrost and cleaning of my regular refrigerator. It was easy to set both zone for under 10 degrees to hold all my frozen foods during the cleaning.
On the same note, as we all are experiencing strange weather patterns, you could have the power go out for a minute, an hour, day, or more. Here in Wisconsin, a early summer storm took out generators, which in turn left many without power for 3-4 days.
Keeping the portable battery charged will help in any emergency use.
Pros and Cons BougeRV Aspen
The unit is well built and ready to keep things cool. In eco mode, you might see a 10 degree offset in the zones, but the separator does limit the inside space. If the two zones are not something you need, BougeRV has other refrigerator options.
I like the wheels, but they are best when you are on a solid or low grass surface. They will not work best on sand or softer surfaces.
The plug on the BougeRV is not standard, and the receptacle is located toward the bottom of the refrigerator without a protection cap. There is a wall plug, a car plug, and a battery plug (if you get the battery option).
Overall, the BougeRV Aspen series refrigerator is perfect for keeping drinks and food cool, along with frozen items frozen for the event your experiencing. Price depends on which Aspen model you choose, with prices starting at $349.
