Matter Shows Innovative Connected IoT Devices
At CES, the Connectivity Standards Alliance continued to progress the IoT space. Along with Matter, I got to see some innovative devices that could set timers, turn on and off devices, and more. Best part is how these devices can integrate into the house so you don’t have a disc sitting on a table.
What is Matter
Matter is a standard that creates secure and reliable smart home devices. The devices have to work together, no matter what type of connection they have. Matter builds upon an Internet Protocol (IP) to communicate with each other.
With input of 200 companies world-wide, Matter is building a full specification complete with testing tools and certification for devices. Each device will have to pass through these standards before it reaches your home.
At CES
I got to play with a device that looked like a piece of trim. A full touch screen to turn on and off lights, a surface where if you write “Sleep” it would turn off lights and more.
The trim also went into a screen saver mode, displaying time and weather, poems, and more.
