There were two things I was really excited to see in the Canon booth at CES 2022 – their newest PTZ camera with AMLOS technology, and the Stereoscopic lens to give content creators a 180 degree stereoscopic video. Of course, there is much more to these systems, which step up Canon’s game.
Canon’s Plan for 2022
During the Keynote at CES, Canon noted when the pandemic hit, the first thing they wanted to give all their devices the ability to connect as a webcam. As we move forward in the contact-less world, Canon wants to continue the innovation with AMLOS, Together Next, and more.
AMLOS
Canon USA is helping build a new virtual experience with the “Activate My Line of Sight” system (AMLOS). This idea is run from one camera, and can create a multi-frame experience so viewers can see what is said and written throughout the event.
The single camera will simultaneously capture and stream multiple views from a single point of origin. Using gesture based controls, you can activate the camera, choose what to view, and even get a high-quality image processed.
If you are presenting on a whiteboard, for example, the camera can focus on both the presenter, and the board. The presenter can move away from the board view with a simple hand sign.
And AMLOS works with Microsoft Teams for remote collaboration from anywhere.
Canon CR-N300, CR-N500 PTZ Camera
Both cameras are 4K PTZ devices that can connect via HDMI, SDI, USB, or through IP (such as NDI HX).
The CR-N300
This is a 1/2.3 type CMOS sensor with DIGIC DV6 image processing. Inside is a Hybrid Auto Focus system that gives a focused high precision image quality fast and easy.
The CR-N300 also has a 20x Optical zoom lens and a viewing angle of 65.6 degrees. The camera can turn to capture any angle in the room through the remote, or via computer software.
CR-N300 is $2696 and available now
The CR-N500
Armed with a 1″ 4K CMOS sensor, it is capable of UHD 4K video capture at 30 fps, and 60fps in Full HD. It also contains the DIG!C DV 6 image processor, and 65.6 viewing angle.
The CR-N500 PTZ also has a Dual-Pixel CMOS AF. This determines the focusing position by the phase difference. That allows for quick and smooth focusing.
The camera can then focus on different objects so it can bring them both into focus for the viewer.
The Canon CR-N500 is $5399 and available now.
Canon RF5.2 mm Dual Fisheye Lens
A new lens for your Canon EOS R5 full-frame mirrorless camera allows for content creators to get into stereoscopic VR. The new Canon RF5.2MM F2.8 L Dual Fisheye Lens is a a high-qulaity L-series lens that can create 3D imagery from a bright f/2.8 to a f/16 with deep depth of field.

Focusing the shot is easy to do. Simply choose a side for focus, then adjust settings on the camera for auto or manual changes. Switch between lenses to confirm all settings.
