Roborock Picks Up Items: Saros Z70 with OmniGrip
Last Updated on January 14, 2025 9:11 am by Jeffrey Powers
Truely one of the new ideas at CES 2025 this year, Roborock advanced home automation with the debut of the Roborock Saros Z70 – a robotic vacuum featuring a built-in arm.
“OmniGrip”: A Vacuum with an Arm
The robotic arm, dubbed OmniGrip, is the centerpiece of the Saros Z70. When you set up the Saros, you will designate zones where the vacuum can place items. The claw is big enough for toys, clothes (like those dirty socks they can’t seem to get into the hamper), and even some cables – where the vacuum can lift, clean, and set down.
This isn’t just a vacuum with extra hardware—it’s also powered by Roborock’s StarSight Autonomous System, which combines AI, RGB cameras, and 3D time-of-flight sensors. Unlike traditional LIDAR mapping, StarSight uses advanced imaging to identify objects, recognize environments, and navigate seamlessly. This allows the Saros Z70 to adapt and improve over time with software updates.
Roborock: Smarter Cleaning for Modern Homes
The Saros Z70 isn’t just about its robotic arm; It offers Roborock’s signature features such as powerful suction for deep cleaning, advanced mopping capabilities, and a user-friendly app for control and scheduling.
Saros Z70 Price and Availability
Roborock plans to launch the Saros Z70 in the first half of 2025, with a tentative release window between April and June. Pricing details haven’t been revealed yet, but given its innovative features, it’s expected to target premium buyers. Roborock also teased that the Saros Z70 will be compatible with future software upgrades, potentially expanding its capabilities even further.
