SQ Motors Sternboard turns Skateboard into a SkiBoard
Last Updated on January 16, 2025 5:13 pm by Jeffrey Powers
I am not a skateboarder (or snowboarder), but at CES 2025, I saw a device where I could become one quick. SQ Motors showcased its Sternboard, an all-terrain electric board built for city streets. But now they are coming with a ski add-on that could cover all your favorite snow-covered slopes.
Sternboard: From Street to Slope Ready
The Sternboard ski is actually based more on a snomobile than anything. Simply attach the skis to the wheels in front, and the back gets a tread. Then, hit the snow – on a hill, or flat land.
Big Wheels, Powerful Motor
The board has a battery that will take you up to 60 miles before recharge (to the store, to work, to friends and back). The Sternboard will do about 44 MPH – so you can cruise the streets of the city no slower than a car.
And the wheels are PSI inflatable tires with a tread that is ready for any surface – complete with a shock absorber system for a smoother ride (but once again, customizable for you).
Built for Adventure
The Sternboard isn’t just about performance—it’s also customizable. Riders can tweak the setup to match their style, or their terrain. So it would go without saying you could put the tread on back for a better grip in non-snow terrain.
Sternboard Prices and Availability
The skateboard, already available in France for $3,000, . The snowboard version, set to release in 2026 for $4,000.
