Day 2: Don’t Have to Pull Anything Out of my Pockets – Ford SYNC
So I walk to the car, press a button and open the door. I press the brake and push the start button – The car starts. Pretty cool. As long as I have that FAB, I feel like I don’t have to lock the car. Maybe I can get a car that looks like an orange Charger where I can weld the doors shut…
So anyway, I’m driving down the road and I get a call from my brother. I answer the phone via the dash and have a good 5 min conversation with him. When were done, the music on the iPod kicks back in.
The best part about this story? I didn’t have to take a thing out of my pocket.
With my vehicle, if I wanted to do that, I had to take the phone out and plug it into the audio cable. I still would have to keep the microphone close by – therefore, putting it in my pocket is not possible.
The only issue I have found is the key FAB is actually bulky. 1 1/2″ wide by 3″ long and 1/2″ thick. It feels like an old garage door opener from 10 years ago. It’s a minor thing, but still, you gotta wonder why it’s not smaller.
The day went fast, especially since I had some new work pile on last minute. A couple people have rode in the SHO and started playing with the SYNC system. They were pretty impressed with the hands free functionality. Switching devices between Satellite and iPhone were pretty quick.
I recorded the 5 Tech Things right from the car. The camera got a little bouncy, but all in all it was a decent shot. Tomorrow I’ll be taking it on the road and playing with the Automatic and Manual drive funtions, plus the navigation option.
