Do The Keyboard and Mouse Matter In The Age Of Tablets and Smartphones

A lot more people doing some gaming on their tablet or smartphone. However, does PC gaming with a keyboard and mouse really matter?
Games such as Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty: Ghosts, and Trackmania Canyon are all games, that are on PC and can be played very easily with a keyboard and mouse. A lot of people that I have been talking to actually prefer to play on a keyboard and mouse.
On the other hand, there are games which require the use of a specialised controller. For example, a lot of fighting games on require a special arcade-style joystick. For example, Razer have the Atrox Arcade Stick which is a customizable fight stick that can be used with the XBox 360 and the PC. Mad Catz also make a lot of different fight sticks specifically for different games. Fighting games require arcade sticks like the Razer Atrox(pictured above) or the some of the Mad Catz fight sticks. This can be really useful especially in tournaments like Evo, where the pros play with an arcade stick.
Thanks to the advent of tablets and smartphones, a lot of people have been doing their gaming on the go. This means that their touch screen is the controller. With that said, I think that the touch screen can be quite a rough experience for the gamer. This is because some games require pinpoint accuracy to make good progress.
So to answer the question I started this article off with, the keyboard and mouse do. It’s all about personal preference. I am always open to trying out new ways to play a game, so as long as they have been implemented in the right way. That being said, there will always be games such as the first-person shooter or real-time-strategy game where the keyboard is the best “weapon” for the job.
