Roku Adds DISHWorld Service to Streaming Channels

Today, OTT provider ROKU announced they launched DISH Networks DISHWorld services over the ROKU streaming set top box. This will feature more than 50 international programming channels including Hindi, Arabic, Urdu, Bangla and Brazilian channels. DISHWorld enables DISH to expand its distribution of ethnic channels into markets harder to reach by satellite.
“We view Roku’s extensive product distribution and established platform as an excellent match for our international content offerings as we look to develop markets that historically have been difficult for us to reach,” said Chris Kuelling, vice president of international programming at DISH. “Consumers in apartment buildings, condos and dormitories who seek ethnic programming now have an easy way to enjoy their favorite channels without the need for a satellite dish.”

If you are a hard-core Tech savvy person, the Roku LT may not be for you. There is no Ethernet port; you will need a Wi-Fi signal. There are also no USB or SD ports either, so it’s not a good product for playing your personal media. If you want these features, you can take a look into the Roku 2 XS. This model also is a gaming system, as you can play games such as Angry Birds, Pac-Man and Galaga.
Roku has a very sleek design; it’s smaller than the Apple TV. The back of the box contains an HDMI port and mini jack output for the breakout video cable. The remote is also quite simple; it contains a directional pad, and basic playback buttons. This device is very easy to configure as well. The only other thing you will have to do is create a Roku account for purchasing premium channels. For each streaming service, you also have to enter an activation code to link your Roku box. The 720p resolution is not a big problem, as 720p offers video almost as crisp as 1080p.
If you are looking to improve your home theater system, and get a bang for your buck, try the Roku Box LT. If you are beginner, looking to enter the world of streaming video, this is the right product for you. For just $50, Roku LT will allow you to view Netflix, Hulu Plus, and more web-streaming services.
