Tonight new Ford CEO Mark Fields announced the brand new 2015 Ford Edge to a group of bloggers and reporters in Dearborn, MI.
The Ford Edge is a CUV – Crossover Utility Vehicle. The Edge can get the kids to soccer practice and still be able to move them to college when the time comes. Debuted in 2006, this 5 door vehicle comes with a turbocharged four-liter or V6 engine.
Ford Edge Goes Global
This vehicle will be sold in North America, China, and Europe. This is part of Ford’s global design plan for 2015. The Edge also was simultaneously debuted in England.
What’s New in the 2015 Ford Edge
To start, the Edge has a new sheetmetal design that looks similar to its 2014 counterpart. The Edge also has forward collision warning (with brake support), adaptive cruise control, and auto start – stop. Along with the hands-free liftgate, you also get torque vectoring control, adaptive steering, and active grill shutters.
The Edge also comes with a front 180-degree and rear camera for a total view of your surroundings. The Advancetrac technology gives you roll stability control.
Inside the Edge comes with active noise cancellation, 12 speaker Sony audio, heated and cooled front seats (heated rear seats, steering wheel), glove box knee airbag and seat belt airbags, and Sync with MyFord touch.
The 2015 Ford Edge will begin production in early 2015. It will be developed in the Toronto campus and exported to North America, Europe, South America, and Asia.
