Geek Smack! Topic of the Week: What Should be Twitter’s New Direction?
Ever since Google+ came out, there are a lot of neigh Sayers that are marking the demise of other social networks and even email. But the reality is, Google+ hasn’t proven itself and we won’t know what direction the network will take in the next 6 months. For all we know, it could become worse than Facebook.
I have always been told – if you are the top dog in a profession and a new dog comes into the yard with a better product, then you either quit or retool to make your product better. That should be Twitter’s focus.
The big question: why can’t they go beyond 140 characters? Why can’t they tweak the algorithm a bit to say any link or picture is NOT included in the 140. Right now, digital trends reported that Twitter applications over 1 million. I am starting to use my twitter handle over my email address.
So in all reality, is twitter going to become the new email?
