LaCie D2, Rugged Mini Drives with Thunderbolt 3 USB-C
What is so impressive is how LaCie has one of the most noticeable hard drives our there and they’ve been making it for over 10 years. Now, the Rugged Mini is getting a new upgrade to the fast transfer USB-C Thunderbolt 3. Along with a desktop HD model in the D2, you will be able to transfer files at lightning speed.
I talk with Lance Ohara, senior direct product Manager at LaCie/Seagate
About the LaCie D2 Hard Drive
LaCie D2 is a Hard Drive caddy that can hold up to 10GB drives – with 6 and 8 TB models also available. The D2 also allows for daisy-chaining other USB-C devices, such as other D2 drives. It will not RAID the drive, but if you need more than 10 TB, or just want to plug your Rugged Mini in for transfer, the D2 will comply.
Lance also mentions the D2 will include Iron Wolf Pro, a 5 year protective warranty for NAS drives. And Seagate will protect the 10 TB drive in this plan.
The D2 will start at $429 and available in the coming months.
About the LaCie Rugged Mini Hard Drive
The Rugged Mini will allow for users to either have space or speed. You will be able to get a SSD model of the Mini up to 1 Terrabyte, or choose a HD version in 2TB, 4TB, or 5TB.
The Rugged Mini will start at $249.99 and also will be available soon.
