It’s interesting when you meet a down-to-earth type person. You know instantly who they are and what they stand for simply by talking to them for 5 minutes. That is exactly the case in meeting Aaron Draplin of DDC – his self-branded Draplin Design Co.
Aaron is passionate about not only his graphic designs, but also about friends and family. I heard him speak the night before in which he stated equivocally what he loves. His family, his dad (who passed away), his dog (also passed away), his small piece of sh*t house in Portland Oregon, his car, his job and his friends.
He talked about some awesome stories where he helped people with little-to-no money build campaigns. He talked about Cobra Dogs — a food cart that used a copyright logo and were on the verge of losing everything. DDC came in and created a new logo for them, helping the entrepreneur recover and do what he loves: selling dogs from his food cart.
Draplin also talked about how he was not only honored, but very proud to work on Barak Obama’s recovery.org logo. A strong Obama supporter, he spent all night and created over 1,000 possible logos for the campaign.
This is an inspirational story and his artwork has even made me step back and look at what I am doing on Geekazine.
