LaCie Thunderbolt Drives – #CES 2012, CES Unveiled
In the next year, we’ll start seeing Thunderbolt devices enter the market. Thunderbolt – previously called “Light Peak” technology – brings a faster connection to our devices like hard drives, peripherals and more.
That is why we were excited to see Mike Mihalik from LaCie as he showed off the new Thunderbolt-connected hard drives for the Apple Mac. It started with the Little Big Disk and 2big, which contained two internal 3.5″ drives. Also announced was the eSata Dock, a docking station that connects legacy SATA devices via Thunderbolt.
With write speeds of 252 Mb/s and read speeds of 459 Mb/s (shown in the video), these drives will not slow you down. Add to that, LaCie has brought innovations to CES for a few years now – you know this drive will be a great addition to your gear.
In 2011, they showed USB 3.0 Memory Sticks
The Little Big Disk is available now, but the 2big and eSata Dock units won’t be available until later in the quarter, with pricing to be announced.
