One Man Crew Camera Slider with Tablet Control – NAB 2014
Last Updated on March 10, 2024 4:02 pm by Jeffrey Powers
When I set up my home studio I tried to find ways to make my cameras work better for me. I thought a slider would be a fun addition – at the time there were no tablets and anything remote controlled would cost an arm and a leg. When I saw Redrock Micro’s One Man Crew, I knew I found something I could use at a decent price.
Keep in mind the slider is still $1,495. If you can afford one it will add movement via the camera so you are not in the same static talking head pattern. Even the slightest movement can really help in the production and storytelling.

This device also allows you to set up some great time-lapses. Set the slider to the slowest movement and hit the record button. Your time lapse will have x-axis movement while the world speeds by you.
Redrock Micro is also adding tablet control to the One Man Crew. The Android app will allow you to move left, right, stop, and start the slider. This parabolic slider has a heavy load tilt head so you can add a DSLR or even larger camera. Set the device on a single tripod or match the weight using 2 light stands.
