World View Experience: Travel 100,000 feet, See Earth’s Skyline

Last year, Felix Baumgartner travelled 125,000 feet into the air for his record free-fall jump. As the pictures show, you can get a great view of the Earth this way without actually travelling in space. Well, the folks at World View want to give you that similar experience – 100,000 feet in the air with a lot slower decent.
At Tech Cocktail startup event in Las Vegas, I got to find out more about this plan to send groups in a 5 hour tour. The process includes a 2 hour ascent to 100,000 feet via balloon, a one-hour stationary period, and finally a 2 hour decent using a ParaWing.
I also found out that Astronaut Mark Kelly will serve as “Director of Crew Operations” for the trip.
This trip will not come cheap, though. Each passenger will be paying $75,000 for their seat. But don’t worry – you only have to put down a $5,000 deposit right now.
No official date has been set, but the World View experience will begin sometime in 2016.
