Zoom H6 Handy High Resolution Audio Recording Device – NAB 2014

I got to see some great recording devices for getting that interview or keynote recorded. One in particular – the Zoom H6 Handy Recorder – is a multi-function recorder that I could use to mic a 6 person interview, a room for an event, a 2-3 person band, and more.
The H6 is designed for everyone – musicians to journalists – videographers to sound professionals that don’t want to carry the whole studio with them. The H6 has multiple attachments along with the 4 XLR/TRS inputs. The Zoom H6 can track 6 channels for many different options. At the top is an attachment for a XY microphone, boom mic (with dead cat) or a mid/size capsule for up-close interviews.
The unit is fairly small for what it can do. Weighing in at less than 10 ounces you will be able to attach to a camera with ease. The case is covered in rubberized plastic to protect the device from drops and pad the device from mic noise.
The H6 has a backlit display which helps you set up your channels when recording. You can record up to 96kHz/24-bit WAV files and 320kb/s MP3 files. Audio can be captured on SD, SDHC, or SDXC cards of up to 128 GB.
Headphone and line-out options allow for sending audio to a camera or other device. USB output allows to send a single audio or full 6 tracks to an audio program. This can be configured in the audio interface function through the USB menu.
The price of the H6 is really what makes this deal sweet for an audiophile. $399 for the H6, 3 mic attachments, deadcat, and cables. You can even add an optional capsule which adds 2 more XLR/TRS inputs.
