Editor's Note: Ray Ferrer passed away on May 20th, 2015 of a brain tumor. I am proud to keep this post up and helping people remember who he was. I am glad I met him.
I stopped by the X-Acto tent at SXSW to see some of the art of Ray Ferrer. Ray uses stencils to create airbrush on canvases. Caricatures to design art and more, Ray can pretty much make anything.
Of course X-Acto and art work hand-in-hand. I have a plethora of blades which I use for art, computer modding or many other uses.
He was getting ready to create a Willie Nelson canvas when I stopped by. I looked at the stencil and noticed how many cuts it took to just to make the beard come alive.
Other canvas paintings included Jimmy Kimmel (for his show will be live from SXSW this year), abstract items such as a compass and guitar neck, and more.
