While at NAMM, I caught up with Bob Heil of Heil Sound to talk about new microphones. They were showing off the newest version of the Heil PR-781. They are also celebrating 50 years at Heil Sound and they are excited with the next 50 years.
Of course, many great artists have been using some of Heil Sound Microphones over the last couple years. the PR-40 is the microphone of the podcaster, while their fin microphone being used by ZZ Top, and can be seen in the Hunger Games and Last Man Standing.
About the PR-781
This microphone comes in black or gold mesh on a black body. The XLR based Dynamic micrphone can be used on it’s own, or attached to a shock mount. Frequency response is 50Hz to 16 kHz and has a Cardiod Polar pattern. At 14 oz, it will work well with your Heil boom arm or holding it right in your hand.
The PR-781 has a Output level of -55db, and 600 Ohms. Perfect for the Podcaster, amateur radio host, or even the musician.
Heil Sound’s Quinquagenerian (50 Years)
We talked a bit about the 50th anniversary of Heil Sound. They are the only manufacturer in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Bands like the Who, the Grateful Dead, and many more have used Heil Microphones in the last half-century. “They are easy to Equalize,” says Bob Heil.
That is true and is why many podcasters use the microphone.
For $190, the Heil PR-781 is priced right. Check out the PR-781 at HeilSound.com
