Mi World Portable Computing System Will Soon Run Linux Steam OS – SXSW 2014
I sat down with Jim Luke of Myth Innovations to talk about their brand new crowdfund in the Mi World Portable Computing System (PCS). They launched the item on Indiegogo to raise funds to develop and market this item.
What is the Mi World PCS? This is a secure and portable supercomputer which can do anything from media server, hot spot, personal cloud, to media streaming solution or even portable computer. You will be able to carry, connect, and share your content from the system you connect to – or even the internet.
Mi World is a 2.4 GHz quad-core computer. It will have 2 GB of DDR3 memory, USB 3.0, Multiple SD card input and 802.11ac wireless. The first version will be running Android, but within a few months they will be transitioning to a full Linux OS (most likely Steam OS).
Therefore, you will be able to have photographers snapping pictures and sending to this device where someone could be editing and sending out. Maybe a two camera stream box. It will be as powerful as a lot of notebooks out there.
The 30 hour battery life allows you to use it without constant recharging.
If you want to pre-order a Mi World, check out the crowdfund. For $499 you will be in line to receive one. Or simply donate $10 to the campaign
