Rent this Dress Using Style Lend – Disrupt 2014

Women lend all the time. Shirts, pants, and even dresses. Of course if a is around $1,000, they probably don’t want to part with it. That is where Style Lend comes in – those expensive dresses for the gala event.

Let’s say you want something from Parker, BCBG, Tadashi, , , Lucca Couture, or anything with a larger price tag. Only thing is you want it for one night – , awards ceremony, or special night on the town. If you can’t afford the high price, you can use StyleLend to rent it out for 10% of the actual price.

I talk with Lona Alia Duncan about this disruption to the industry. She noted several women who really needed a dress for one night. One in particular was Miss Hawaii – Moani – who needed a dress for an event. She worked with Style Lend to find the right dress for the night.

The price of the rental is 10% of the actual . You can also get insurance if minor issues arise (zipper gets broken, wine spilled on dress, etc).

This service is also a way for women to rent out dresses they bought to others – similar to Airbnb. There are two options with being able to rent a dress – one where you do most of the work and the other where Style Lend puts your dress into their closet, takes care of all shipping and cleaning costs, then splits the rental 50/50.

StyleLend is expanding their services outside . They plan to be in and are working on a delivery structure for smaller cities whose women need a dress for the evening.
