Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSA couple years back at CES, we saw bone conductive speakers for the first time. It was pretty awesome to not have to shove headphones in your ears – Just put in on a bone and you can hear the music in your head. Aftershokz has taken bone Conduction further. They have a commercial headset, which uses the same technology that military Special Ops teams depend upon. It is actually illegal to have headphones in your ears while driving. With Aftershokz, you can become compliant with your headset. Aftershokz require the headset be charged (USB charging adaptor included). Once ready, plug the headset in and turn it on. Prices start at $59.95 Interview by Courtney Wallin of SDRNews for the TechPodcast Network.
Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSMost of us are starting to have a mixed environment. The fact that more Macs enter into a home means that households will most likely have both a PC and Mac, which they use in abundance. That is where J5Create is stepping in. Those Apple users know about this company, as they announce a new product, called the Wormhole Station. This J5 Wormhole Station – combined with a Wormhole cable – makes a mini KM (keyboard and mouse) switch. This allows the user to control a Mac, and a PC. The Wormhole station moves files seamlessly from one computer to the other. JUC100 J5 Create Wormhole KM Switch on Amazon A great feature of the Wormhole station – is a setting, which if you move the mouse cursor off one side of Mac screen, it transfers the cursor to the PC screen. The J5 Wormhole...

Well, it’s been on my mind for the last few weeks. On October 1st, I pulled the switch and the Day in Tech History Podcast has officially moved to it’s own website. Now found at www.dayintechhistory.com – The move means a lot of new additions and opportunities. The first idea is I can move this past podcasts. Two weeks ago I started the Pre-Cap, which is a roundup of the Tech History you will hear about during the week. This has a Share-Alike attribution, which means you can take this video and incorporate it into your videos as a segment. Secondly, I can bring on more bloggers that want to talk about historical events in technology history. We can also bring in video, pictures and more into their own categories – making this a fully rounded website. No Changes Necessary to the Day in Tech History for you!...
About a year ago, Citrix asked Geekazine to switch over to GotoAssist for their campaign. It fit in what we were doing over here. However, they asked us if we could switch back to GotoMeeting, and we were very happy to oblige. After all, they all are awesome programs. GotoMeeting is the best at online meetings. For Mac or PC and even for the iPad, GotoMeeting is what Geekazine chooses for online meetings. We use it for TechPodcasts and the monthly TPN Roundtable. Of course, supporting GTM means you are supporting Geekazine. I appreciate that. The best part is we are increasing the free trial to 45 Days! Visit gotomeeting.com, click the try it free button and don’t forget to use promo code: Podcast. Welcome back, GotoMeeting!

If there was one thing that rang true this year at CES, it was you don’t need a bulky setup to make a presentation. Data on a smartphone connected to a handheld projector could get your point across in a matter of minutes. All you need is a strong battery. This time we talk with 3M and their work with the technology. It was the first stop in the Main hall. Todd Cochrane gets a demonstration on how 3M does PICO projectors and what is in store. How would you like to pump data from one source to multiple receivers? How would you like to do it and receive zero latency from it? How would you like to see this from a wireless perspective? Andy McCaskey talked with the folks at Cavium Networks to discuss their technology for wireless HD viewing and multi-casting – ultimately eliminating the wires to go from your Blu-ray to your HDTV. Wow. It was about a year ago I asked for people to send in thoughts as to what to expect in 2008. I also made some Technology predictions. But the real question was – How far off was I? This is actually part 1 of a 2-part story. This first part reviews the predictions I made last year and how far off I was. Part 2 will have this years predictions, including predictions from CEO’s CTO’s TechPodcasters and even a Psychic. So without any further ado, let’s pick apart my idiocy from last year: OLPC will have some growing pains. The first part of OLPC will be the easiest. Maintaining the machines will be the trick. Microsoft coming onboard will muddy the water, but they might be able to do things like offer a better support network to third world countries.

On November 20th. 2000, Intel introduced their newest line, and Seventh generation of Pentium core processors. Code named “Willamette”, it became the Pentium 4 processor upon launch. The first processors were in speeds of 1.4 and 1.5 GHz and a new technology called “NetBurst”, which was suppose to carry processors to 10 GHz, until they found an issue that made the processor plateau at 4 GHz. The processor had it’s problems – transistor power leakages and cooling issues. However the processor has been used in machines up until 2008 when it retired at 3.8 GHz. Add in Hyperthreading and the system could run more efficiantly. Other notes of the week – Windows 1.0 debuts, the first experiments of the transistor is run, the first Sunday Comics section is printed...
