Checking out Tascam DR-701D with Timecode Sync for Great Video

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSWhen I have to record one-on-one videos on the road, I go to my Tascam Video camera recorder. The newest version in the DR-701D adds video time-code so I can sync up audio better. I sit down with Jeff Laity at CES 2016 to learn more about this audio product. Whether using a DSLR, Prosumer camera, smartphone or other recording device, audio can become the single most important part. If you are recording multiple sources, separate tracks can be the difference if you have to fix any audio anomalies. When I first saw the DR-701D from Tascam, I was excited to see they added HDMI pass-through and time-code options. Add to it up to 6 audio sources in a multi-track recorder (4 tracks plus stereo mix). In talking with Jeff Laity, I learned Tascam improved not only the functionality of this device,...

Popular Keurig Kold Makes Coke, Sodas, Tea and Mixers

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSWhile at CES 2016, I got to try out the new Keurig Kold, the cold drink version of the popular Keurig coffee system. While it doesn’t make coffee, it does make some great cold drinks, such as craft sodas, Coke products, tea, sparkling water and even mixers – just add the alcohol or drink it as-is. The Keurig Kold makes a drink in a couple minutes. The pods are different than a standard K-cup. Inside contains compartments to the soda and the carbonation; a series of beads that react to the water. You can watch as your drink is created through the 1-2 minute process. Just like with the coffee system, you simply have to add water and your favorite flavor cup to the system. Then sit back and enjoy a nice tea, sparkling water and more. No coffee drinks yet,...

Easybulb Plus WiFi Light Bulb Video Review

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSWhile away from home, I usually set lights on timers to simulate someone at home. This year I used the Easybulb to do that – a 9 Watt bulb that not only can connect to my WiFi for control on my iOS or Android device, but also set timers to turn on and off. This system consists of two parts: the WiFi receiver which communicates between bulb and Internet, and the bulb itself which screws into any standard Edison lamp design. I plugged the WiFi box into the back of my cable box, which was in direct view of the bulb. I can also get a home remote if I don’t want to use my smartphone. The bulb itself is an RGBW – so I can set a mood with color, turn to white and dim it down. Perfect for setting...

The AMOLED Display is 5.4″ and produces a 1440p Quad HD screen, or 2560×1440. The screen is called ShatterShield and many have dropped, ran over, hammered and done other items to the screen. Aria Hotel Room Video Walkthrough: Las Vegas, NV

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSThis last trip to Las Vegas brought me to the Aria Hotel and Convention Center. I stayed in the Deluxe room, a 520 sq. foot room with King bed. The hotel opened in 2009 with 4004 guest rooms and 568 suites. The casino brings over 150,000 square feet of games and includes a 24-table Poker room and high-limit room. The view of the 24th floor was amazing, even though it wasn’t strip-side. I was able to not only get to the convention center pretty easy, I could also access the spa and pools without having to go through the smokey Casino. There is even a “Game Room” which features XBox and PS4 gaming for $12/hour. Aria Hotel Guest Room The Deluxe guest room itself was a little worn. My privacy (do not disturb) button did not work, which they had maintenance come...

D-Link Powerline AV2 2000 Gigabit Adapter

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSI own and have used the D-Link powerline DHP series in the past. My DHP 302 has been a life saver when I needed to run an Ethernet cable but couldn’t punch through a wall to do it. The newest D-Link Powerline adapter is the AV2 2000. This can send around 2 GB of data through your electrical wiring to places where Ethernet and WiFi can’t. It’s perfect for when you want to hard wire your Fire TV, XBox or PS4, or even plug it into a switch so you can connect all your devices. Some new additions to the AV2 2000 include MIMO – Multiple Input, Multiple Output. Think of it like the data splitting up and the smaller pieces take the path of least resistance to get to the destination point without any bottlenecking happening. Get the Powerline AV2...

Star Wars Commander Video Tips to Level Quick

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSI’m a fan of the 3rd person war base game and Star Wars. So when I was asked to do a quick review of Star Wars Commander, I had no problem with it. This is a paid video, but my opinions are my own. About Star Wars: Commander Available for iOS or Android, this game allows you to fight for you who believe in: Rebels or Empire. Your task is to build a base that the enemy cannot win and attack their bases to gain coin and iron to build more of your base. With iconic Star Wars characters such as Chewbacca, Han Solo and Princess Leia or even Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, you can take them into battle to help your cause. Join a group to give and get more forces to use in attacks, along with gain new...

iRig UA for Android versus iRig HD for iOS Video Comparison

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSI remember building my first pedal board out of an old record player. The size was wide enough that I could hinge onto my Peavey Rage amplifier. I had a Wah/Volume, Reverb and Doubler pedals which I affixed to the board and plugged into the power strip. It was crude, but it worked really well. Today, all you need is a smartphone to not only get all those pedals, but a plethora of amps and microphones as well. Digital guitar modeling has majorly progressed in the last 5 years – especially with companies like IK Multimedia who are pushing the boundaries for musicians. A guitar player might just walk in with their ax and a tablet that plugs right into the soundboard. No more amps. No more pedal boards that lie on the ground to get beer spilled on them. The...

Cachefly: A Little About Geekazine’s CDN for Video, Podcasts

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSIt doesn’t matter if you are a podcaster, video content creator, app developer or gamer – you need a solid CDN to deliver images, audio and video across your program. The content needs to deliver fast and reliably so your customers don’t move to another website, show or game. When I lost my CDN in August, I did a lot of shopping for a new location. I had over 900 videos that needed a new home and a lot of work changing file names just to get back on track. I have looked at Cachefly in the past and was pretty impressed with their track record. So I moved over to the service. Why Do Podcasters, Video Creators Need a CDN like Cachefly? Sure, you can put all your videos up on YouTube and that can be pretty sufficient. However, some...
