Next Generation Technology Concepts at Panasonic House

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSOne thing SXSW Interactive brings out is some great concepts and prototypes. I seem to get to try more here than any other conference. Panasonic was there to show off some great concepts for food, clothes, and even a way to become a better presenter. There were several products in the house. I focused on four of them. In the Video We look at Bento, A.M.P, MonStyle and a Social Coaching Device. All but the coaching device is ready for the public. Bento @ YourOffice Imagine you forgot your lunch or it got crushed in the great subway accident of 2017. No worries! Simply pull out your smartphone and order via Bento. At lunch time, you simply scan your QR code on the phone to a refrigerator that contains your purchase. No waiting for delivery drivers that are overwhelmed with other...

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSS One of the new startups at BlogWorld & New Media expo had a twist on the idea of video. The program is called AdSmoke and the idea is simple – use this encapsulation program to put your video into. AdSmoke then puts ads in front of your video. AdSmoke ads are in 15 second spots. But if you need a place to put videos, then VidSmoke is another option. Both are still in Beta. Jeffrey Powers talks to Eric Hamilton about this new program. Jeffrey posted his prediction that the tablet computer hoopla will turn out to be just that–hoopla–last week. As I mentioned in a comment to his post, tablets have been around for a long time in various forms. So why don’t we see more persons using them? I do not think it’s because the market is waiting for a break-through product. I think it’s because most persons just don’t care. That something is technologically possible does not make it desirable.

Copyright is not exactly a tech topic, but it is a topic important to bloggers and techies. Scientific Blogging offers a discussion of the history and interpretation of copyright law in the United States. It can be found here. A nugget: The competition between copyright protection and free expression existed long before digital files and the Internet, and Snow reached back more than 150 years to document the history and evolution of the tension between the two. His research revealed that the burden to show whether a copier’s use of expression was fair initially lay with the copyright holder. For more than a century of common law, courts provided a liberal doctrine of fair use by imposing the burden of proof on copyright holders.

Geekazine and Friends 2009 Predictions

If you like this article, please DIGG it. Thanks! In Part 1, we looked at last years predictions. The numbers weren’t too shabby. This year, we’ve expanded the list to anyone that wanted to contribute. And Contributions I did get. 250 of them. I spent most of Friday night and subsequent morning filtering the list to a couple pages worth of information. We have CEO’s, CTO’s, Marketers, Podcasters and even a Psychic helping us with this years list. Of course at the end of the list I will be adding my 2 cents worth for 2009 on Page 2.  So without any further ado, let’s get started.

Major Website Updates – Bitstrips

OK. It’s 4:51 AM and I am still up in front of the computer. I spent a lot of time on the site today doing major fixes and finishing the move of all the media. At 4 AM this morning, I completed the task. All 153 Podcasts are now on a new server. You should be able to get to any of the content over the last year. Since I was up, I decided to commemerate with a Bitstrip. I call it an esoteric look at re-coding. Now I am going to sleep. Good night. ZZZZZ……….

Love or Hate the iPhone – Where Do You Stand?

It’s been a year and a few months since the first iPhone was sold. Since the release of the 3G model, I’ve been seeing people with iPhones I would have never expected have one. The iPhone has brought up a new way to use the internet, the phone and a computer. Apple is under a lot of scrutiny: AT&T being the sole carrier, the Apps store program take downs and the 3G services being poor. Yet the iPhone still is the 2nd best selling phone behind the Motorola RAZR. Apple itself is set to continue through these tough times. There has been a lot of good and bad said about the iPhone. I have seen a lot of Forum posts, even more twitters and more. I decided to go ahead and ask a small group of people over at Help A Reporter what their thoughts were. I asked...
