PAPAGO! P3 HD Dashboard Cam, GPS and Video Recorder

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSI remember watching those videos of dash cams while growing up and thinking how great it would be to have my own camera mounted on my car. Today’s technology lets us do that in many ways. My friends at PAPAGO! have been working on such a camera with the P3 HD camera. This is a dashboard camera that can be set on a windshield, or mounted on the dash. It can also be connected right to the 12 volt line, or you can use the USB cigarette adapter. What this does do is not only record your drive in 1080p, but also help on your driving. The P3 includes the advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), lane departure warning system (LDWS) and driver fatigue alarm (DFA) which will make sure you are not dozing off behind the wheel. Other features include alerts...

Gaijin Announces an Wave 3 for War Thunder Ground Forces Expansion

Gaijin Entertainment announced today the third wave of the Ground Forces Expansion for War Thunder.  This is going to be the final wave before the expansion goes into an open beta. If you have not heard of it, then this expansion is one that brings tanks to the table. They also plan to bring war ships into war thunder. We are also going to see a huge update known as Update 1.39. This brings a huge amount of customisation to the table. For example, you will be able to create planes, locations, missions and put camouflage designs onto your aircraft. In particular, we will see planes from the Korean War. On a side note, War thunder is also coming to PS4 sometime in early 2014.

Apple’s Safari SSL Bug – What You Need to Know to Fix

Subscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSS After a couple weeks of travel and lots of great video, I took the week to regroup and make sure everything is posted. Still some CES content that has not gone up. This episode is not live this week due to time constraints. Meetings in the AM pushed things back. But some great stuff coming down the pike because of it! Adi has been doing a fantastic job at the helm of the Gaming side of Geekazine. Thanks for helping out! If you would like to write, simply drop me a line! I got some opportunities this last week, including a chance to go out to the gun range and capture it all on Glass. I talked about it last night on TWIGG with Luke Wallace. Hotline – 608-205-4378 – geekazine (at) gmail.com Download the audio version Subscribe to the podcast...

Adi’s Time Tunnel: F-Zero

Welcome to Adi’s Time Tunnel. This is another feature, where I get to talk about games from the past(AKA retro games).  Up this week, I am talking about F-Zero for the SNES. This was released in November 1990 in Japan, August 1991 in the USA and June 1992 here in the UK. In fact, it was a launch title for the SNES. This was a racing game set in the year 2560, where multi-millionaires have created a racing league known as F-Zero. In this game, you have two modes: Grand Prix Mode and Practise Mode. In either of the modes, you have four different cars/machines to race with. Each of them differ in the way they drive.  The Blue falcon was a good choice for beginner drivers.  The Golden Fox had high acceleration, but a low defense rating.  The Wild  Goose had a lot of power, but low...

Interview with Downtown Podcast – Bringing in the Community

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSSome podcasters have a microphone and computer in a closet to create their shows. Others use a webcam and Google Hangouts. But what if you had a live audience you can play to – and also bring that audience into the show? That is what Downtown Podcast does. I had a great opportunity to speak with a group of podcasters that are not only putting on a great show, they are doing it with the downtown Las Vegas community behind them. The Downtown Podcast is a show recorded live every Thursday night at the Ogden in downtown Las Vegas. The podcast is about the new startup scene being created in the old part of town. Entrepreneurs from all areas are creating this new community that actually is one. People helping people succeed. The crew are creators themselves. Dylan Jorgensen (Ticket Cake),...

World View Experience: Travel 100,000 feet, See Earth’s Skyline

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSLast year, Felix Baumgartner travelled 125,000 feet into the air for his record free-fall jump. As the pictures show, you can get a great view of the Earth this way without actually travelling in space. Well, the folks at World View want to give you that similar experience – 100,000 feet in the air with a lot slower decent. At Tech Cocktail startup event in Las Vegas, I got to find out more about this plan to send groups in a 5 hour tour. The process includes a 2 hour ascent to 100,000 feet via balloon, a one-hour stationary period, and finally a 2 hour decent using a ParaWing. I also found out that Astronaut Mark Kelly will serve as “Director of Crew Operations” for the trip. This trip will not come cheap, though. Each passenger will be paying $75,000 for their seat....

Do The Keyboard and Mouse Matter In The Age Of Tablets and Smartphones 0

Do The Keyboard and Mouse Matter In The Age Of Tablets and Smartphones

A lot more people doing some gaming on their tablet or smartphone. However, does PC gaming with a keyboard and mouse really matter? Games such as Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty: Ghosts, and Trackmania Canyon are all games, that are on PC and can be played very easily with a keyboard and mouse.  A lot of people that I have been talking to actually prefer to play on a keyboard and mouse. On the other hand, there are games which require the use of a specialised controller.  For example, a lot of fighting games on require a special arcade-style joystick.  For example, Razer have the Atrox Arcade Stick which is a customizable fight stick that can be used with the XBox 360 and the PC. Mad Catz also make a lot of different fight sticks specifically for different games. Fighting games require arcade sticks like the Razer...

Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu Plus – the Throwdown

This week, Amazon mentioned they may be raising the yearly fee by up to $40. This would make the Amazon Prime service $120 a year, or about $10 a month. Netflix and Hulu Plus have their service for $8 a month. While Amazon offers more to their Prime service, is it worth keeping with the price increase. Better yet, if you only had $10 / month to spend on a service, which one would you buy? The Good and Bad of Netflix Netflix has a streaming service and a DVD rental service. They used to be one entity, but were split into two, with hopes to sell the DVD rental side. Once Qwikster fell apart, the company focused on the streaming — especially TV shows. Netflix is great for TV enthusiasts and kids. There are a ton of shows they can watch over and over again. I have...

Gibson 2014 Lineup – 120th Anniversary Guitars at CES 2014

Podcast: EmbedSubscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSSAljon and I go way back when it comes to CES. It was great to see what he and Gibson are up to for 2014. Of course its the 120th anniversary of Gibson, so we get treated to a special line of guitars with a lot of great tech that’s been added! Gibson’s tent at CES was not only filled with great guitars, but all the Gibson staff were dressed up in Sci-fi attire. Aljon was dressed as Dr. Evil. Earlier in the week they parked the Delorean in the front of the tent and Doc Brown jumped out yelling “Great Scott!” Which brings up the question: Did Marty McFly Play a Gibson in Back to the Future: According to Aljon: YES! Michael J. Fox played a 1958 Gibson ES 345 custom. He went back to 58 to get the guitar...

Time for a New Credit Card System?

Subscribe: Apple Podcasts | Android | RSS Getting ready to head back to Vegas for Tech Cocktail. The folks at Veeam have stepped up to help with airfare. Now I have to plan the week of getting some startup interviews and more. Just as the CES live broadcast videos have been wrapped up. Welcoming a new blogger on Geekazine. Adi from MHF Tech will be posting about games on Geekazine. Of course, I’ll be highlighting his articles on the show.  Last night’s TWIGG had Libby Chang from Wearables Weekly on the show. We had a great event talking about Luke Wallace’s new Glass frames. I am waiting for my v.2 Glass to return from Google. It’s FAWM – February Album Writing Month. While I don’t usually do 14 songs anymore, I am going to try my best to do as many as possible. Some of them might just become...

My Gaming Pick of The Week: Fist of Awesome

Every week, I will try and bring you a game that I think you should check out. This week, I have chosen a game called Fist of Awesome. This is essentially a beat-em-up game. You play the time-travelling lumberjack Tim Burr(cue impending rim shot). He is on a mission to correct the timeline by punching bears (and other animals) in the face and save humanity. You can punch, kick, and do a jumping kick.  However, tapping and holding on a second of the screen releases the special move known as the fist of awesome.  You have a main story mode (with the above plot). You also have an arena mode, where you have to kill as many bears as possible in the alloted time. The reason that I picked this game is because it reminds me of the golden age of beat-em-ups in the early 1990s. It reminds...
